#21: John Deacon (Queen)
While Freddie Mercury caught the attention of millions in massive stadiums, bassist John Deacon stood in the background. He wrote some of the band’s biggest hits, including “Another One Bites the Dust” in 1980. Deacon was always a quiet, family-oriented man who valued his privacy. After the sad passing of Freddie Mercury in 1991, he chose to leave the music industry entirely and retire to a quiet London suburb.
