#5: Terence Trent D’Arby
The wonderful hit song “Wishing Well” from 1987 made us think about Prince. Terence Trent D’Arby’s creative spirit was soon shut down by the corporate music machine. He was basically a prisoner of his own achievements. He made a hard decision to get away from the constant media rumors and constant pressure. He relocated to Europe, changed his name to Sananda Maitreya, and started creating independent music on his own terms.
