The Heart
Isn’t this a wonderful picture of a picture taken by someone else? Photos and lockets are a fascinating window into the past. Lockets were initially intended to hold a photo or a lock of hair, but they were also used to store drugs and poison over time! Weird and unual use, right?
Elizabeth I wore a ring with lockets of her own and her mother’s likeness, Anne Boleyn, in one of the earliest known examples of a locket. It’s a rare and beautiful side to history that lockets show us – the idea that people and the past are not lost; we carry them with us.
