Won an Academy Award!
The screenplay for Good Will Hunting was written by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon when they were just 25 and 27 years old, respectively, in 1994. Director Gus Van Sant’s film about an unrecognized genius with a troubled past, which cost just $10 million to produce, made over $225 million!
As a result of their efforts, two largely unknown, unemployed actors from Boston were awarded both the Academy Award and the Golden Globe in the same year. They both brought their mothers with them to the Oscars, so we’ll have to guess who they were calling. Was it their grandmother or someone special who didnt show up at the awards.
