The Goon Show (1951) became a major influence on British comedy, featuring Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, and Harry Secombe. Many early radio episodes disappeared because recordings were made on fragile acetate discs before tape became common. Some survived as incomplete copies or later transcription recordings, but others remain permanently lost.
