It Didn’t Make It Any Easier
Even though he would soon be able to put his feet up and take it easy during his retirement, he still had more than his fair share of work to finish up before he could officially retire. After completing a mountain of paperwork and making a number of phone calls, he was finally able to trade in his badge for a beer. However, before he could do so, he had to first get his badge.
Due to the fact that the deadlines were extremely stringent, it was necessary for him to put in a significantly greater amount of effort. In the course of his 29 years of service there, he had developed a sense of familiarity with the environment; however, this did not make the challenges that he faced any less difficult for him to deal with.
