#9: The Parthenon
Athens constructed this classic temple on a hill during the fifth century BC in honor of the goddess Athena. In 1897, Nashville created a full-scale replica from concrete, which earned the city its nickname, the Athens of the South. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Americans held Greek ideals of knowledge and art in especially high regard.
