The Grand Staircase in Its Original Form
You’re certainly familiar with this stairway from James Camron’s 1997 film, but you might be surprised to hear that it’s not a set-piece photo. On the Titanic, the actual Grand Staircase looked like this. It has subsequently become one of the ship’s most identifiable features.
Only first-class passengers were allowed to use this staircase. This was a feature that the ship’s designers were extremely proud of. It was supposed to be the center of attention for the entire ship.
