I Guess So
Attorney Larry L. Archie’s billboard claims: Just because you did it, doesn’t mean you’re guilty. Really? Cause I was under the impression that’s exactly what it means. But I’m no lawyer. Ok, jokes aside, if you think about it, this isn’t entirely wrong. You know what they say: actus reus doesn’t imply mens rea. Yep, that’s in Latin. Actus reus is the criminal act and mens rea is the criminal intention.
Many criminal defenses acknowledge that the act in question occurred. So, Larry L. Archie’s is actually correct, and what he means is that he can help you get off the hook even if you did do it. Just not sure if this is the best way to convey the message.
