Radiation Intake or Exposure
People who operate aboard nuclear submarines should be considered to have a higher chance of being exposed to potentially lethal levels of radioactive material. This is a realistic assumption to make. On board each nuclear submarine in the United States Navy, there appears to be a total of four layers of protective shielding in place.
Despite the fact that both populations are exposed to radiation for the same amount of time, official studies have shown that the average American submariner receives a much lower radiation dosage than the average American citizen at home. This is a surprising finding given that both populations are subjected to the same amount of time.
