#10: The Wizard of Oz (1939)
While filming the 1939 Wizard of Oz, the costume department was looking for the right coat for The Wizard, one that would look elegant but old and tattered. They decided to look in a local thrift store and came back with a number of options. Actors Frank Morgan and director Victor Fleming then chose the one that seemed like the best choice.

Morgan later noticed the label had the name L. Frank Baum on it – the same one who originally wrote The Wizard of Oz. After contacting his wife, production found out it really was the same coat that once belonged to the author. What are the chances of something like that happening?
