#22: The America of America
The map in this post below is impressively accurate for having been made by someone who’s not American. And I say that as someone who proudly hails from the part of the country where if we were a spice, we would be flour.
But their description of Florida as “the America of America” is so beautifully poetic and also strangely accurate that I’m mad I didn’t think of it first. The way that many non-Americans look at us—in that “what are you weirdos getting up to now” sort of way—is how Americans look at Florida. And just as many Americans are proud of that status, so are many Floridians.
