#35: Bye Bye Red Rover, Signed North Dakota
Half of North Dakota is part of The Great Plains, a wide swath of flat land, but that only lands it in third on the list of states. Both Florida and Illinois are flatter than North Dakota. The real reason you can see your dog run for two weeks is there isn’t anything in North Dakota to block your line of sight. There’s a whole bunch of nothing.
North Dakota is a little over 70,000 square miles but only has a population of 779,000 people. There are literally ten times the amount of people in the 300 square miles of New York City than in the entire state of North Dakota. For another comparison, my small suburb in northeast Atlanta is 6.8 square miles with over 12,000 people, and it doesn’t feel crowded at all.
