#47: Virginia Is Just Confusing
I can’t really make fun of the people saying they’re from Washington, D.C. It’s exactly like when I tell people I’m from Atlanta. No one has heard of any of the suburbs in Virginia, and it just makes sense to say Washington, D.C., so people have a decent idea of where you are from, right?
Washington DC only has a population of slightly over 600,000, while Northern Virginia, which extends westward and southward of DC, has a population of over 3 million. That’s a significant difference! It’s one of the fastest-growing portions of a state in the U.S., and it’s incredibly diverse.
