Menorah from Second Temple
Between the years 66 and 74 AD, Jewish rebels fleeing from Israel fought bravely against the oncoming Roman army. However, the Titus-led army ultimately trampled the rebels, leading to the destruction of the Second Temple. The army then went pillaged the sacred site and took home everything they could, including the temple’s menorah with six branches.
Pictured above is the Arch of Titus, which depicts Roman soldiers carrying the menorah back home. The menorah appears to be the same size as one of the soldiers. As large as it was, the menorah went missing even before the Roman empire was reduced to ashes.
