#20: Toy Story (1995) — Andy’s Parents Are Divorced
Andy’s father never appears, the family moves to a smaller home, and his mother seems to handle everything alone. Fans therefore theorize that Andy’s parents are divorced, with the toys functioning partly as emotional stability during family upheaval. Other theories suggest Andy’s father died, though Pixar has never established either explanation onscreen. The absence may simply keep the story focused. Still, viewing the move as a quiet domestic crisis makes Andy’s attachment to Woody feel much more emotionally significant.
