Gone With The Wind appeared to be rather contemporary
The four-hour epic historical film about the Civil War and following Reconstruction from 1939 is a must-see! So there are likely to be a few blunders here and there. Melanie, Scarlett O’Hara’s sister-in-law, is seen carrying a gas-powered lamp in one scene. However, an electrical cord may be seen dangling from it.
On this one, the prop department failed miserably. For Pete’s sake, it’s the Civil War. At the very least, she didn’t trip over the cord and draw more attention to the issue.
