The first book of J.R.R Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, was first published on the 29th of July in 1954, and the final book, The Return of the King, October 20th of 1955. This was just as Churchill’s time as Prime Minister was winding down.
This was after his first term leading England through World War II from 1940-1945, as he would later be re-elected in 1951. Both men served in the chaotic mess of the First World War (then known as the Great War) and later played big roles in the Second World War as well.
