Amusement parks are designed to deliver thrills, but some attractions have crossed the line from exciting to genuinely dangerous. From roller coasters and waterslides to wave pools and free-fall experiences, these rides became infamous because of accidents, injuries, and fatalities that left a lasting mark on amusement park history.
#1: Mindbender Roller Coaster
The Mindbender at Galaxyland in Edmonton, Alberta, became the site of one of Canada’s worst amusement ride disasters. In 1986, a wheel assembly failed, causing a train to derail. Three riders lost their lives and several others injured. The accident led to extensive investigations and major safety improvements.
