The Haunted Castle at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey was not a ride in the traditional sense, but it remains one of the deadliest amusement attractions ever built. In 1984, a fire swept through the structure, taking the lives of eight teenagers. The tragedy prompted stricter fire safety rules throughout the industry.
