The stories we are told through the medium of film are not just for entertainment purposes. The worlds we witness and the characters who move through them become personal to us; a part of our lives. It’s little wonder, then, that some people will pay whatever it takes to physically own a piece of that story, forever memorializing its message, its impact, and its prop designers! We’ve selected 23 of the world’s most expensive movie props to date, ranked in order from least to most expensive (though the first item’s value could probably buy you a house!)
#23: Indiana Jones’ Whip – $204,000
Indiana Jones is a man of great intellect, verve, and gumption. But without his whip, he just wouldn’t be the same crypt-busting hero we know and love. When the whip was brought to auction, a fan paid $204,000 to become the new owner. We can’t help but wonder if they also had the hat to match.
