They Had To Intervene
Although at first it appeared as though the bear would be successful, it became apparent very quickly that the angle from which it had chosen to board the boat was too difficult for it to succeed. The young bear couldn’t reach the surface far enough to pull itself up, and it was rapidly sinking back down into the water.
The fishermen didn’t want to get too close to the bear cub, but they also couldn’t just stand by and watch as it was carried away by the icy rapids. They have, after much deliberation, arrived at a decision. They had no choice but to intervene because of a certain circumstance.
