Ed Savitt was a student at the University of Newcastle back in 2011.
A year earlier, Ed had moved into a university apartment that had previously been inhabited by many other students. The apartment had everything Ed needed, but he couldn’t get the washing machine to operate for the life of him.
Ed was fed up with having to do his laundry outdoors when he had a perfectly excellent washing machine at home after battling with it for many weeks. This is when he came up with the notion.
