Not That Kind of Indian
Many people, myself included, grew up using the term “Indian” to refer to Native Americans. Nowadays, I always use “Native American,” not just because it appears to be more accurate and respectful but also because it avoids a lot of potential confusion.
It’s incredibly confusing that the same term is used to describe two totally different and unrelated groups of people. My confusion, though, is nothing compared to this poster’s; at least I didn’t spend my entire life thinking I was something that I’m not.
