A cheese party at the White House
A New York dairy farmer once gifted Andrew Jackson a massive block of cheese. The cheese was so large and heavy that it weighed the equivalent of an entire cow! After leaving it in the Entrance Hall of the White House for two years, he decided to throw a “Cheese Party” in 1837 and invite everyone! He believed sharing is caring, after all!
This gargantuan wheel of cheese was about 1,400 pounds and 4 feet in diameter, and 2 feet tall! The guests devoured the cheese within two hours, leaving behind only the stink of cheesy goodness. This party was one for the books–or should we say, one for Presidents?
