The Punch-Bowl Lake: Do you dream of swimming in a fruity cocktail?
Parties wouldn’t be the same without punch bowls. Punches have been around for ages and are a classic party staple that always draws a crowd. They’re usually a mix of different alcoholic beverages and juices, and people have loved them since they became popularized.
In 1694, Admiral Edward Russell held an epic party in Cadiz, Spain at the local governor’s home to get revenge for what his home country had done. They chowed down on over 150 dishes and had a waitstaff of 800! We’re calling it enormous because the punch bowl wasn’t just huge or even gigantic–it was 2,860 liters of booze flowing in a fountain. It was served by a boy rowing a small boat across this ‘lake’!
