#11: The Sweet
The Sweet formed in London in 1968 and became one of glam rock’s biggest acts with hits like “Ballroom Blitz,” “Fox on the Run,” and “Love Is Like Oxygen.” Vocalists Brian Connolly and Steve Priest, along with guitarists Andy Scott and Mick Tucker, combined hard rock riffs with catchy choruses that sold millions of records. Critics often argued the group’s success depended too much on colorful costumes and radio-friendly singles. Fans, meanwhile, packed concert halls and turned The Sweet into an international chart fixture.
