#4: The Captain and Tennille
The Captain and Tennille arrived on the pop scene in 1975 after Daryl Dragon and Toni Tennille released “Love Will Keep Us Together,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year. Their easygoing sound also produced hits like “Muskrat Love” and “Do That to Me One More Time.” Many rock fans viewed their music as too polished during an era filled with harder guitar bands and emerging punk acts, yet record buyers clearly disagreed.
