#17: R.E.M.
R.E.M. decided to stop touring after their shows supporting Accelerate (2008), choosing to leave the stage while still successful. The band released their final album Collapse Into Now (2011) before ending their career later that year. While reunions remain possible, their decision marked the end of one of alternative rock’s biggest acts.
