Threatened With Extinction
The thing about extinction is that often it is the outcome of human behavior. And radiated tortoises weren’t always close to extinction, but by the time the 1990s rolled around, their population had gone down to only 12 million… We know that might sound like a lot of tortoises, but when you consider how large the world is, it really isn’t.
It might be hard to comprehend, but it has been a while since the 1990s, and by 2010 their population had halved to 6 million. Unfortunately, there are no signs of this pattern changing as statistics just show that their species is constantly decreasing. And if anything would have happened to the 9000 tortoises in the abandoned house, theirpopulation would have been greatly affected.
