Gabrielle Douglas
Gabby’s older sister taught her how to do her first cartwheel when she was a young child. By the time she was eight, she had already won many medals in gymnastics competitions. She started training full-time when she was only 14, and by 2010 she was already bringing home gold medals from big competitions. Since she and the other members of the Fierce Five won gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the rest of the team, including her, had a great year.
Gabby also got the gold medal for having the best performance overall. After that, she made history by becoming the first person of African American descent to win an Olympic medal. She has been working hard to get ready for the 2020 Olympics, which will be held in Tokyo.
