Ali Krieger
This professional soccer player held the position of team captain during her final year at Penn State, when she was a student there. She began her professional soccer career with the Washington Freedom not long after she received her diploma, and in 2008, she was chosen to play for the United States women’s national team in the Summer Olympics. Her performance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup match earned her recognition from FOX as one of the finest 11 right backs.
She suffered a significant knee injury a few years later, which is heartbreaking for any athlete (or anyone, for that matter), but she came back to the field not long after her surgery to treat the ailment. In addition to being a talented soccer player, she also possesses a huge heart, which is evidenced by the fact that she is actively involved in philanthropic work. She has collaborated with a number of different non-profit organisations, two of which being Athlete Ally and MiracleFeet, to advance the cause of equality in professional sports for athletes of all sexual orientations.
