Nightingale’s vision quickly becomes known all around the world.
The reputation of Florence Nightingale as a skilled medical professional swiftly spread around the world. Nightingale served as a role model for Linda Richards, known as “America’s first trained nurse,” whose work inspired nurses serving on the front lines of the American Civil War. Richards had previous experience in the nursing field before deciding to join Nightingale’s rigorous nursing training programme.
Richards could impart her newly acquired knowledge to nursing schools throughout the country after she had finished the programme and received her certificate. In addition, Richards was a pioneer in the nursing profession because she was the first person to propose the idea of individual patient medical records. She had previously lived in England, and after making the move to Japan, she established the country’s first nursing school.
