Care is not free
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, becoming a Registered Nurse (RN) is an outstanding choice for a profession. A study conducted in 2019 found that the median wage was $73,300, which is equivalent to $35 per hour. RNs that work in outpatient care clinics typically bring in a higher salary than their counterparts who work in traditional medical and surgical institutions.
The location of a nurse’s place of employment significantly impacts their salary. The District of Columbia, California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, and Oregon round out the top five highest-paying states in the country, respectively. In these regions, registered nurses typically earn an annual income of more than $90 000 on average. The annual pay of a registered nurse in the state of California is approximately $113,240 on average. Registered nurses can earn more than $134,000 annually in the cities of San Jose, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz, California.
