#34: A Very Confusing Logo
This is a story of what happens when a logo gets so modernized that people can’t tell what it is anymore. There’s a big tendency in design towards ever-more-sleek and minimalistic designs. And mostly, I like that, but it does mean that sometimes people just have no idea what your logo is actually supposed to be.
When the NBC peacock logo was introduced in the 1950s, it was much more obviously a peacock (a colorful one, introduced now that TV was in color). But since then, it has gotten more sleek and minimal with every new redesign, and now you can barely tell what it’s supposed to be.
