#3: Large Picture Windows
Split-level homes liked to go big on picture windows. The segmented nature of the house allowed for ample natural sunlight, helping to brighten things up without increasing your utility bill or carbon footprint. But—while picture windows might have been great for home aesthetics—they were not great for birds, as they often mistook these windows for the open air. Using decals, screens, and blinds and placing bird feeders at a distance from these windows could help prevent “fowl” play.
