#15: DDoS Attacks Brought Down Major E-Commerce Websites (2000)
In February 2000, major internet companies including Yahoo, Amazon, eBay, and CNN were temporarily crippled by massive DDoS attacks. The attacker used compromised computers to flood servers with traffic, making websites inaccessible to users. The attacks revealed how fragile online infrastructure still was during the internet’s rapid commercial expansion in the early 2000s.
