In 1995, hacker Kevin Poulsen manipulated a radio station’s phone system to guarantee he became the winning caller in a contest for a Porsche 944 S2. By blocking competing calls, he secured the prize himself. The case became famous in early hacker culture and eventually led to Poulsen serving five years in prison.
