#11: “Carpe Diem. Seize the day, boys.” – Dead Poets Society (1989)
Robin Williams’ character in the film Dead Poets Society is faced with the task of inspiring his class of private school boys who just want to get in and get out. Recognizing the lifelessness their lives have succumbed to from rigorous studies and pressures from parents, he shouts to them, “Carpe diem! Seize the day, boys.” And that they do. A heartwrenching reminder that all we have is the present moment, the enduring legacy of this film can be wrapped up in this one soul-satisfying line.
