#9: Sliding House, Suffolk, United Kingdom
Sliding House looks simple until it starts moving. Designed by dRMM, it consists of separate structures transformed by a 20-tonne outer roof and wall enclosure that slides along tracks. Depending on its position, the house can be covered, exposed, framed, opened, or dramatically reconfigured. Most homes have curtains. This one has an entire movable skin. It is less “open-plan living” than “shall we move the roof today?”
