I Feel It in My Bones
You know how in movies, the old-timer sitting on the rocking chair on his porch says things like “There’s a storm a-comin’, I can feel it in my bones”? When I was a kid, I figured that was a silly thing that only appeared in movies.
The older I get, though, the more I suspect it might be based on real events. Now, my joints aren’t yet so creaky and achy that I can detect changes in the weather. But given how much they hurt all the time, I figure that by the time I’m 80, I’ll have figured out how to use them as a barometer.
