It would certainly be frustrating, not to mention unproductive, to look for personal finance advice and only hear it from people who have never been in your situation and therefore don’t entirely understand what it’s like in your shoes.
It’s fortunate that, with the proliferation of blogs and podcasts, there are loads of personal finance gurus out there for you to choose from. And a lot of them are candid about the situations that they grew up in, which vary from very wealthy to very poor. Poke around and find someone who reflects your values and matches your needs (and who actually has some financial knowledge).
