#20: The Trouble with Healthcare
Healthcare is always a hot topic. In places like America, where there is no universal healthcare, medical costs can become alarmingly high, to the point where if you don’t have health insurance—or sometimes even if you do—a medical emergency can torpedo your financial well-being, depleting your savings and driving you into debt.
There is an alternative, and that is universal healthcare, which is a system that is implemented in various ways in countries across the world. How it’s run and who pays for it varies from place to place, but the idea is that everyone in a country or an area has access to healthcare. Actually implementing it often turns out to be complicated, but making sure people don’t suffer sounds like a pretty worthwhile goal to me!
