#9: Bulk Is Not Always Better
Confession time: I am a bargain shopper. At this exact moment, I have an industrial-sized bag of spinach in my fridge because the cost per ounce was so much cheaper than the normal-sized bag of spinach. But I am never going to be able to eat all of that spinach before it goes bad, so I’m going to have to freeze the excess to use later.
But if it was something that didn’t freeze well that would have been a total waste of money. Buying in bulk so as to save money only works if you’re going to be able to eat all of that bulk, or if the thing you buy can be saved for later. If you’re throwing away half-full bags of rotten potatoes every few weeks, it’s probably a better choice to just go for the small bags of potatoes in the first place.
