Abrupt Changes
When we ask for just a little trim, the barber gives us a cut that makes it look like we fought a weed-wacker to a standstill. We’ve all been there. This Husky needed a drastic haircut for a very important reason, and that reason is to protect him from a potentially fatal condition called tick paralysis. The disease is transmitted by ticks.
A species of tick known as the paralysis tick, also known as Ixodes Holocyclus, is responsible for causing tick paralysis in dogs when it bites them. It is recommended that you completely shave your pet in areas such as the east coast of Australia, where these ticks are common, in order to make it easier to find these dangerous pests. Ticks can cause serious illness and even death.
