#4: Confucius
Centuries ago, in what is now China, Confucius helped shape an entire moral vocabulary that would influence families, governments, and daily life for generations. He was born in the state of Lu, traditionally dated to 551 BCE. Rather than offering abstract speculation for its own sake, Confucius spoke in a practical, relational way. He cared deeply about conduct, respect, duty, learning, and the habits that make social life stable and humane. Family order mattered to him, but not as cold obedience. It was part of a larger hope that harmony could begin at home and spread outward into public life.
