#6: A Very Merry Mascot (1963)
In 1963, McDonald’s brand new mascot debuted in TV advertisements. “Ronald McDonald, the Hamburger-Happy Clown” was his official slogan. Largely inspired by the mega-popular icon Bozo the Clown, actors dressed as Ronald McDonald would often visit children’s schools and hospitals to teach children about safety and to cheer them up.
