Once upon a time, furniture seemed like it was made to murder us. Sofas didn’t swallow us whole, and chairs didn’t stab us with a table leg, but the furnishings of the ‘70s and ‘80s weren’t invented with safety in mind. Take a seat (carefully!) and check out these 18 pieces of furniture prone to injure you. If you presently have any of these pieces in your home, consider an upgrade next time you redecorate.
#1: The Glass Coffee Table
Don’t let their shiny exterior trick you: Glass tables are the most frequent culprits when it comes to household incidents. Falling onto this type of table can result in bruises (at best) or deep lacerations and severe blood loss (in the most worrisome cases). Moving a glass table is also arduous, requiring special handling and transportation. Naturally, glass is a fingerprint magnet, too.
