#20: Richat Structure, Mauritania
The Richat Structure, or “Eye of the Sahara,” is best appreciated from above, where its giant circular rings appear like a bullseye in the desert. Once mistaken by some for an impact crater, it is now understood as a deeply eroded geological dome. On the ground, the pattern is harder to grasp. From space, it looks like Earth left a fingerprint in the sand and forgot to smooth it over.
