The Kentucky Bend is a small piece of Kentucky nearly surrounded by the Mississippi River and bordered by Tennessee and Missouri. It can only be reached by traveling through Tennessee, making it geographically isolated from the rest of Kentucky. The land is fertile but sparsely populated, with agriculture as its primary use. Its shape is the result of the river’s looping path rather than deliberate design.
